In order to learn how to overcome fear and anxiety, you need to understand fear. Fear is an interesting emotion.
Back in ancient times, it was extremely helpful. For example, can you imagine if a tiger was coming to attack and all you could think of as it was happening was “woah thats a big cat.” Or if you just see that pretty girl or boy that you want to talk to, it makes sense not to listen to your urges and going up to them and say “hi.”
Because if you talk to the wrong person, you have a REAL CHANCE of someone in the tribe getting mad and throwing a rock at your head or forcing you to a life or death dual to battle for love.
Luckily that is not the case now. Fear has helped mankind survive for thousands and millions of years. But times are changing. We no longer need fear to protect from the scary monsters or from the big bad and ugly. As society evolved, the need for fear for “survival purposes” almost became obsolete.
So what did fear decide to do?
It decided to fight back and make you fearful of the most insignificant things that has no biological negative consequence or actual threat of hurting you.
So to fight back..
