How to Turn a Profit Buying Amazon Return Pallets

Did you know that 30% of all online purchases are returned by the customer?

When an online retailer, such as an Amazon seller, receives returned products, they need to process their Amazon return pallet. If the seller wants to reshelve these products for resale, they need to inspect, repack and relist the products into inventory.

This is a labor- and time-intensive process. For many Amazon sellers, these costs are offset by liquidating these returned products.

This post explains how you can move towards financial freedom by buying and selling Amazon return pallets.

You’ll learn:

  • What Amazon return pallets are
  • Why buying Amazon return pallets is a good idea
  • How and where to buy Amazon return pallets
  • How much you should pay for an Amazon return pallet
  • How to ensure you get the best from this strategy

I’m also offering you the chance to sign up for my free upcoming webinar, “How I made $10/day, then systematically grew to $100/day, then $1,000/day and more!” In this webinar, I not only discuss a specific “Silver Linings Method” to systematically grow your personal wealth, but I also look at the skills and mindset you’ll need to succeed as an Amazon return pallet reseller.

What Are Amazon Return Pallets?

Amazon return pallets are pallets of Amazon inventory that have been returned to sellers.

Each box on an Amazon return pallet contains a separate order from an individual customer — so there is a huge variety of items on a pallet.

There are many reasons why customers choose to return their orders:

  • 22% of returns are because the item received looks different from the online photograph
  • 23% received the wrong item
  • 20% received a damaged product or packaging
  • 35% due to other reasons, such as delivery was delayed, buyer’s remorse, etc.

As such, there is roughly an 80% chance that the items on an Amazon return pallet are not damaged and are in perfect condition.

This offers you a fantastic opportunity to buy Amazon pallets, then resell each individual item separately at great profit.

Amazon Return Pallets for Sale

Buy low, sell high.

This is the essence of any business, whether running a restaurant, a clothing store or trading stocks. You procure a good or service for X amount. Then you find a customer who is willing to pay you more than what you paid for it.

The exact same goes for buying Amazon return pallets.

These pallets contain stock that has been returned, and the seller has chosen to liquidate, or sell on, that stock, instead of reinvesting time and money in returning the stock to inventory.

This offers people an unbelievable chance at making 300 USD per day on the side. All you do is set up some outlet where you sell items individually, whether through a Sunday flea market, a monthly garage sale, or through an online eCommerce store, and you acquire your inventory by purchasing Amazon return pallets.

Once you’ve got your items, it’s time to make each item as valuable as possible.

This might mean:

  • Fixing certain broken items so you can resell on eBay “as new”
  • It might mean putting the item in new packaging (eBay offers many empty packages for popular items)
  • It might mean adding accessories such as chargers, straps or clasps so you can sell the item as a complete set

Making your inventory as good as new is the best way to maximize profit as an Amazon returns pallet reseller. source

How to Buy Amazon Return Pallets

Buying Amazon return pallets is a gamble, as you never know what is stocked on each pallet.

However, you can get a broad idea of what each pallet contains and maximize your chances of getting high-ticket items by understanding the different types of Amazon return truckloads.

“Bigs” (Large Products)

Big truckloads hold 26 tall pallets, each containing oversized items such as:

  • Televisions
  • White goods (refrigerators, freezers, microwaves)
  • Furniture
  • Household and garden goods

Such pallets are great if you have plenty of storage space and more time to wait for customers to purchase larger, more expensive items.

“Smalls” (Small Products)

The average piece count per small pallet on a smalls truckload is high, with many of the items being valuable, desirable items such as:

  • Sunglasses
  • Jewelry
  • Watches
  • Electronics
  • Accessories

Many people find the most profit in buying “small” Amazon return pallets. The inventory available offers the highest prices and the most accessible sales on online stores or at flea markets.

High Retail

These loads are similar to “smalls,” but in smaller amounts. They are highly sought after by online retailers because they are likely to contain the most popular merchandise from Amazon, which means a faster turnover, however smaller margins.

Clothing

Each one of 26 clothing pallets on a truck of Amazon returned clothing may contain 1,200 items. The items will be mixed between men, women, children and baby clothing, and will also include designer clothing and accessories like handbags, scarves and belts.

Most of these items are ready-packed and in top condition, making for an ideal reselling opportunity in a flea market or a thrift clothing store.

Where to Buy Amazon Return Pallets

When Amazon sellers liquidate their returned stock, they pass the items onto liquidation companies.

These are the places you look for Amazon return pallets, and you must research each liquidation company properly before purchasing stock from them.

Two places I suggest to start looking at are:

Bstock

Online auctions from B-stock are seamless and easy to participate in. I’ve found their descriptions very accurate, and the quality of products is what they say they are. B-stock is a good starting point.

Direct Liquidation

Direct liquidation work with all types of large brands, Amazon, Target and Walmart included.

All sales are conducted via auction, and you need an account to participate. I’ve found that Direct Liquidation does have rather undescriptive pallet descriptions, but the fact you can get return pallets from Amazon, as well as other large companies, is a nice feature.

$85 Amazon Return Pallets

Amazon return pallets are most often sold off in an auction-style sale.

Depending on the description of the pallet, bidding will be more or less aggressive for higher-ticket items of better quality.

However, it’s essential to know that you will most often have no idea about the condition of items on the pallet, and you’ll certainly have no guarantee.

To understand how much you should pay for a pallet, you need to know the MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price), which is the sum total of the selling price of all items on the pallet.

So, as a rule of thumb, I suggest you never pay more than 20% of the MSRP. This will mean you’ll lose quite a few auctions, but it’ll also mean that you’ll almost always turn a profit on the pallets that you do end up winning, especially when you can score $85 Amazon return pallets.

Top Tips and Tricks for Amazon Return Boxes for Sale

As with any endeavor, there are multiple ways to turn a profit by buying Amazon return pallets.

The most essential part is sourcing pallets that maximize your chance of getting your hands on high-ticket items, which will boost your product margins.

Here are a few tips I’ve found helpful in the past:

  • Look at customer reviews of liquidation companies to get an idea of the quality of the product they contain on pallets.

  • Try to see if the company offers a pallet manifest — a list of items on the pallet. Often, companies will use universal barcode scanning to list items. This can help you get the items you want.

  • Use trustpilot to review any liquidation company you consider purchasing your Amazon return pallets from.

  • Record your sales. Recording your sales will help you identify which customers pay what amount for which items — this will help you maximize profits in the future by becoming savvier with your marketing and packaging.

Bundle Items Together

Products sold together fetch a higher price than the combined total of each individual item. Leverage your creativity and imagination to create hampers and bundles of goods that complement one another and sell them together.

Accessorize

This is similar to bundling items together, but accessorizing the main item, such as a camera, with other things, like straps, stands, lenses and covers, is ideal for getting the most profit out of an item purchased via Amazon return pallets.

Buy Amazon Pallets: Wrapping Up

As you can see, turning a profit by buying Amazon return pallets is a relatively simple concept that, if done with creativity and hard work, is very worthwhile.

Key points to remember for maximum profitability:

  • Only source your pallets from a reputable auction of liquidation companies
  • Don’t pay more than 20% of the MSRP for your pallet
  • Fix and package your items, so they look as close to new as possible
  • Combine items to maximize resale value

As with any entrepreneurial endeavor, one of the hardest things I notice people struggling with is adjusting their mindset.

Freeing yourself from the 9-5 grind and achieving financial freedom doesn’t just happen overnight. It’s a process of learning and acquiring the confidence and skills to go it alone, but anyone can do it.
